White Pine 2011 Now Here!

The aim of the library/resource centre is to assist students in becoming self-directed, self-motivated, independent, life-long learners and critical thinkers. We strive to aid in the development and understanding of the Roman Catholic faith by providing materials, which represent the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and by periodic religiously themed displays.

Literacy is a major focus in the St. Mary community, especially in the library/resource centre where we highlight various literacy initiatives including the White Pine Reader's Choice and the Accelerated Reader programs, facilitate our literacy days, celebrate National School Library Day and Freedom to Read Week, among others. We foster the love of reading and attempt to engage every student in the pursuit of interesting, compelling recreational reading materials. We have also begun a graphic novel section to interest the non-traditional readers of our community.

Students wishing to fulfill their 40 hours of Christian Community Service are welcome to volunteer in the Library/Resource Centre where they will provide an important service and learn some useful skills. Please check with Guidance.
