Mrs. Lisa Clarridge
Mrs. Clarridge has been involved in music since the age of 4. She began playing piano at that time, and clarinet at the age of 12. By 14, she knew she wanted to teach music, and received a wonderful high-school education from Pope John Paul Secondary School in Scarborough. She received her Honours Bachelor of Music from U of T's faculty of music, and her Bachelor of Education from OISE in downtown Toronto. She began teaching at St. Mary in 1999 and has greatly enjoyed building the music program.
Although for years she was the only music teacher at St. Mary, she managed to grow the program to need two additional teachers, Mrs. Yukich (vocal) and more recently Ms. Carruthers (instrumental). Mrs. Clarridge has two sons. Although her main instrument is clarinet, she can play all woodwind and brass instruments, percussion, and guitar. Mrs. Clarridge's senior jazz band won gold at Kiwanis in 2002 and bronze at the Atlantic Band Festival in Halifax in 2007. Her senior concert band won silver at Kiwanis in 2002 and silver at the Atlantic Band Festival in 2007.

Ms. Lisa Carruthers
Lisa Carruthers began her music career at the age of 6 playing the piano in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. At the ripe age of 12 she starting playing clarinet in the school band and moved up to tenor saxophone one year later playing both concert and jazz music. By the time she reached high school, she was playing in numerous musicals such as “My Fair Lady”, “The Secret Garden” and several Gilbert and Sullivan Shows.
It was in high school that she realized that she could not imagine a day in life that did not involve music. By grade 12 she was performing with the University of Prince Edward Island’s Wind Symphony and then continued her studies there in both saxophone and clarinet.
She graduated in 2003 with Bachelor of Music Education and moved to the West Coast of Newfoundland to a small community to start a music program. During her two years there, she established the music program in their school system and then in 2005 took her experiences and brought them here to St. Mary.
Ms. Carruthers conducts the Junior Concert Band, Intermediate Concert band and in the past the Junior Jazz Band. This past spring, the Intermediate Concert Band achieved a Silver Standing at the Atlantic Band Festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
