AMI 1O1 - Instrumental Music (beginner)

This course emphasizes the performance of music at a level that strikes a balance between challenge and skill and is aimed at developing technique, sensitivity, and imagination. Students will participate in creative activities that teach them to listen with understanding. They will also learn correct musical terminology and its appropriate use. The above will be achieved through the study of instrumental music at the beginner level.
AMI 1O2 - Instrumental Music (experienced)

AMI 2O0 - Instrumental Music (beginner)

Students will also be required to develop a thorough understanding of the language of music, including elements, terminology, and history. The above will be achieved through the study of instrumental music at the beginner level.
AMI 2O1 - Instrumental Music (one year experience)

Student learning will include participating in creative activities and listening perceptively. Students will also be required to develop a thorough understanding of the language of music, including the elements, terminology, and history. The above will be achieved through the study of instrumental music for students who have one year experience.
 
AMI 2O2 - Instrumental Music (a minimum of two years experience)

Student learning will include participating in creative activities and listening perceptively. Students will also be required to develop a thorough understanding of the language of music, including the elements, terminology, and history. The above will be achieved through the study of instrumental music for students who have a minimum of two years experience.

AMI 3M1 - Instrumental Music

Prerequisite: Music, Grade 9 or 10 Open
This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of various kinds of music, including baroque and classica musicl, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will perform technical exercises and appropriate repertoire, complete detailed creative activities, and analyse and evaluate live and recorded performances. They will continue to increase their understanding of the elements of music while developing their technical and imaginative abilities. The above will be achieved through the study of instrumental music.
AMH 3M1 - Stage Band Music

Prerequisite: Music, Grade 9 or 10 Open
This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of various kinds of music, including baroque and classical music, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will perform technical exercises and appropriate repertoire, complete detailed creative activities, and analyse and evaluate live and recorded performances. They will continue to increase their understandign of the elements of music while developing their technical and imaginative abilities. The above will be achieved through the study of stage band music.
 
Grade 12

This course emphasizes the appreciation, analysis, and performance of music from the romantic period and the twentieth century, including art music, jazz, popular music, and Canadian and non-Western music. Students will concentrate on developing interpretive skills and the ability to work independently. They will also complete complex creative projects. The above will be achieved through the study of instrumental music.
 
AMH 4M1 - Stage Band Music

Note:
All students enrolled in instrumental music courses are required to participate in one performance ensemble. All ensembles meet one day per week after school. Attendance is mandatory. A user fee of $35.00 is required.
